I don't usually write poems, but my best friend inspired me to write this. We started school together in Kindergarten and graduated high school together. When we went to college, our paths separated -- but only for a short time. Ten years later, God brought us together again when we started attending the same church. Here is our story:
From watching lightning bugs in the backyard
To enduring another episode of Jay Jay the Jet Plane
From picking out prom dresses
To choosing the right kind of diaper
From trapping the cat in the laundry basket
To chasing the kids through the house
From pizza and mountain dew at the mini mart
To mac and cheese at the kitchen table
From looking for a date to the prom
To waiting for working husbands
From sharing secrets at slumber parties
To encouraging email letters
From young and full of life
To not-so-young and scrounging for spoons
From laughter and smiles
To discouragement and pain
You’ve been there through it all
And I know, God willing,
You’ll be there for years to come
Thank you, my friend, my sister in Christ.
