REFLECTIVE STATEMENTS This technique encourages students to reflect on a lesson bygiving them a prompt to complete. Again, this can be done as a whole class for discussion at the end of a lesson or you can give these statements to them at the beginning to think about throughout the lesson. Younger learners can draw or explain verbally, older learners benefit more if they are able to write out their thoughts first before being asked to share. Provide the class with the four thoughts below:

I wonder…
I appreciate…
I now understand…
You could instruct them to finish all of the statements or just choose two or them to complete. This also acts as an excellent assessment of how well you presented the lesson. If you ask them to write out their thoughts, you may want to collect these from the class as they leave.
